sustainability in tourism & community
.......the issue of Global Warming is no longer in doubt
- the summer Arctic ice is expected to disappear in the next few years.
- the Polar Bear was officially listed as threatened under the US endangered species Act in 2008. It is the first creature brought under the Act's protection for habitat loss that is linked to global warming.
- the Great Barrier Reef, comprising over 3000 individual reef systems, is expected to be destroyed unless there is a 25% reduction in carbon emissions by 2020.
- The small Pacific nation of Tuvalu, population of 10,000, is threatened with irrevocable loss by rising sea-levels as a result of the impact of global warming.
